Most people are going to give you their opinion based on what if affordable for them, not what is best for you. As a college student, i think that the Toshiba is an excellent choice. Ive been through HP's and Toshibas. They have both proven reliable but for some reason, Toshibas are more sturdy. I think thats an important factor to take into consideration, you know, soda near the laptop a knock here a bump there...i hope this helps you decide.
