It sounds like the hole where you attach the battery to the laptop has developed a fault.

Remove the battery then plug in the charger. If it boots up then the problem is not with the charger, but its the battery. Try a different supplier for your battery’s it might be defective products/

Acers are prone to breakage. You should see if you can take it back and get a refund. Or see if you can get another chord for it and see if it works then.

I am having the same problem. The battery isn’t recognized. The computer works when plugged in. The orange light comes on… but it won’t charge the battery. Did anyone find a solution ?

Michelle - I am having the same issue. My daughter got this for Christmas and this is the first time I have realized this was a problem - she has only used the laptop a handful of times. I’m calling Acer tomorrow.

Wow my battery has developed the same problem too. A few days ago when I put my battery in so can take my laptop to the park I noticed that the battery had absolutely no power and was not charging at all even though the battery light is on. It must be a defect.

those batteries develop whats called…”memory”…they charge less and less all the time until they wil no longer charge because their memory condition tells the charger that it is full already but it isn’t….those batteries need to be completely discharged or weened so that the memory is gone and then can be fully charged again….this is assuming that the charger is good and that the plug at the pc is in good condition…..solder joint is good…because the solder will also break at the connector from constantly moving it……also, the chargers for those batteies burn out one of the diodes and will no longer provide enough current to charge those batteries so their could be 2 faults…if the orange light blinks…..means that there is not enough current being supplied to the battery even though the voltage says 19.7 volts…..it also has to supply at least 2 amps of current…in that case the charger is bad……..hope this helps everyone…..
