Is it possible to put a gateway hard drive into an ibm thinkpad?

i have a gateway mt3422 and an ibm thinkpad t40 type 2373 and the gateway has a good harddrive but broken screen and the ibm has a perfect body and everything just a broken hard drive. new screens are a lot of money . but anyway i am just wondering if it is possible to switch hard drive into the thinkpad?

    Yes you can….No difference in the HDD of the 2 models

    yes, but you will need to reinstall the OS for the new hardware.

    You need to check the specs to see if they are compatible.
    If the specs match up then you are in good shape.

    That way all the connections will be the same and the process should be easy - as far as the physical connections - it fitting properly in the respective space.

    I am pretty positive you will have to format the hard drive and install the Operating system for the IBM. Since the hard drive was configured to another computer with differents settings / configurations / devices / drivers / processor / etc.

    yes,and try to uninstall all the drivers before plugging into other one , you may even not have to install windows again(even thou you have to activate it)
