This remote is terrible. Sorry, but it is. The usability is very poor. The buttons are hard to push and overall I just hated using it. The only good thing about it is the RF, but that wasn't enough to keep it. I returned it to Amazon and purchased a Harmony One. The Harmony One is a much better remote. It doesn't have RF but the layout is nice and the buttons are easy to press. If you feel you need RF, you don't. A quick search on Amazon for "IR repeater" will solve your problem. Try out the hot link pro! It's an amazing product that pairs well with the Harmony One. I now have one remote for everything!

This device was purchased refurbished. When it arrived the remote would not power on, so I plugged in the charging cradle and set the remote inside. A test screen displayed, then the battery charge bar started blinking, then the screen went black. I allowed it to 'charge' for a couple hours, removed it from the cradle and .. nothing, still no charge.

I determined that I could get the screen to stay active while it 'charged' in the cradle, by pressing OK after the initial test screen displayed. Figuring maybe this was the trick, I let it set 'charging' in the cradle for another four hours. Still nothing.

The most frustrating thing was that there was not a scrap of documentation on how to charge the unit. There was a huge folded sheet of paper that described connecting the rf device to a pc, in 5 languages. But nothing on initially charging the remote. I found some instructions on the internet but they did not address the issue I was having.

I figured the remote must be damaged, and went through the return for refund process with Amazon.

Right before repackaging the remote in the box, I took another look at it. Pressing and pushing the underside revealed a battery compartment .. that was EMPTY!

Crimeny.

So the long and short of it is my refurbished unit was shipped without a battery. Something I could have determined in the first few minutes if there had been the barest of documentation on how to charge the unit. Just an arrow, pointing to a labeled battery compartment, would have helped solve this problem sooner.

3 stars because it may work perfectly WITH A BATTERY! I don't know. The enclosed instructions were useless though. Maybe the real instructions were also missing from my refurbished unit. It's hard to believe the very first step to getting the device to work (charging the device), would have no enclosed instructions for accomplishing this task.

Just ordered my 2nd refurb 890, for a total of three 890's. The refurb is identical to the new, just comes in a plain brown carton. Fantastic value for a wonderful product. Controls all the lights in my home theater with an Intermatic HomeSettings Z-wave network I set up myself. Controls all the components, even the PS3 with the $15 Nyko USB adaptor. Easy!

Received a refurbished Logitech unit. It took some time mand tial and error to load the software, but we were able to do so. Some things became apparent very quickly (and I must admit we may need some help):

1. The channel changer button only works on for increasing channels, the button to decrease the channel does not work.

2. You can program it to turn on the TV and cable, but with our Toshiba projection TV you also have to press "exit" on the TV remote to switch to the cable remote from the TV remote, and the Logitech won't do it so we still need 2 remotes.
tv w/o sound, sound w/o picture, volume control works sporatically, and now I can move DOWN in channel numbers but not UP. They've replaced it once - and the 2nd one was more of a piece of junk than the first. Save your money!!!!!
