I am also having the freezing issue. I have had a logitech trackball for years and know I have to clean it often (pop the ball out and clean the three white tips). However, my issue is with the cursor freezing now.
Got a new windows 7 computer a month ago and the track ball worked fine, but then stopped. I dropped the trackball once, so I thought it broke. I went out and bought a track man trackball and it only works sometimes. The cursor freezes here and there, so I unplug the usb cord and plug it back in and then it works again. So, I plugged in the trackball I dropped only to find it DOES work, but is having the same freeze issue. It is a real pain to have to do this over and over. EGADS

In the past I have been happy with the trackman mouse. This last purchase has not functioned properly since a couple months after received. The cursor stops moving even though the "ball" is still being used. Literally knocking the mouse on the table gets it to work again. Cleaning doesn't help.

Two issues here, first the Trackman Marble only works 90% of the time. It freezes and I can either wait, which occasionally works or drop the device which works 90% of the time. I updated the drivers, uninstalled the drivers, used Microsoft drivers and back to Logitech driver, none of this helped.

Issue two is the inability to even contact some one for a solution. Nothing is available on the Logitech site and the forums are not responding.

This started with a brand new unit. I cleaned the ball, I tried both the PS2 and USB connections and have had no success.

I would rate the product at a 1. I had high hopes for it and when it did work it was great. But, the real bottom line is Logitech, regardless of how good a product is it still takes company support. So now I am back to a mouse and it won't be a Logitech.

This is my first trackball mouse and I'm never going back. It takes up less space and is more responsive than any other mouse I've ever used. It took a few days to get used to the quick action and the location of the scrolling buttons other than that I have had no issues with the mouse and I would definitely recommend it to a friend.
Pros: smooth trackball action
good ergonomics

Con: I thought the lack of a scroll wheel could be overcome - wasn't possible for me, too inconvenient - I'll be returning the Marble

I bought two of these at the same time. One had a rough patch right out of the box; when I hit that spot (I assume an imperfection on the ball) the trackball would resist and often stop dead. The other worked fine for a few months, then developed the same problem.

Logitech customer service is a joke. I, at least, can't figure out how to contact them to complain without knowing both the product number and the serial number, which of course are on a sticker on the bottom of the device, and all scratched up from use.

At $25, not a good buy. You have been warned.
