Once the wheel is down it tends to activate the horizontal scroll buttons as well. If this were a software problem it might be fixed with the latest driver. It seems that the battery was not well positioned inside the compartment. Eventually I was able to fix this problem. After that the mouse works fine. I am not able to change my original review to the 4 stars that the working product deserves. <br /> <br />The software (a whopping 50+ MB file) must be installed to access the special features such as zooming and side to side scrolling. <br /> <br />My only complaint is that the product feels too light and insubstantial in the hand. Bought this mouse, immediately returning it, it won't get a signal past 1/2 meter! Not impressed with Logitech, their stuff never lasts more than a year. My only complaint is that the range of use seems to be VERY small. I am right-handed, and the mouse only works within about 4 inches from the right side of my laptop. Outside of 4 inches away, the mouse freezes and I'm constantly having to pick up the mouse and move it back within range.
