I was very intrigued by the Lenovo IdeaPad Y510; I’d never really considered this brand, but tis newly introduced line seems very competitively priced ($529 after rebates)

. …Just curious as to other’s experience with Lenovo, good or otherwise??

I looked at this deal and tried out the Y510. I was impressed by the quality exterior finish, the bright frameless display and a very nice keyboard. Many aspects of it reminded me of the ThinkPad, especially the keyboard and the sturdiness. There is no trackball though. It is a little bulky, but if you are going for a 15 inch laptop, weight should not be an issue for you. There are some touch-sensitive (for a lack of a better description) multimedia buttons at the top-right corner which are good utilities to have but they felt a little mushy. Finally the face detection technology is cool but does’nt excite me much. I currently use a ThinkPad for business and Sony S260 at home, and I would’nt rate this one in the same category as those. However I think it is definitely better than the bulky Dell laptops (hate the keyboard) and on par with the HP ones. The price is I think hard to beat. I haven’t made up my mind completely but I am 70:30 in favor of getting this one.
