Here's my take, Lenovo thinkpads are simply the toughest notebooks produced, they will last you. I have a t40 that's 5 years old and still running strong with no issues. If you work in business or plan on gaming, do not get an apple. Most business applications are not compatible with mac os so check with your employer regarding that. If you have several clients at your office, then I doubt they'll be running mac os. Mac os is more for artsy media geared majors. Vista doesn't have too many security issues, if you spec your notebook well, vista runs without any slowdowns or problems. PS: I see you're running a home office, and I understand you're not a techie, but yahoo answers is not the best place to get tech answers as most of the people here don't know what the hell they're talking about.
